What Is ASR?

I’m so glad you asked! Attuned Systemic Repair is a fully integrative, multi-systemic therapy. Here’s what that means.

FULLY INTEGRATIVE

ASR takes core principles leveraged by other therapies and integrates them into a seamless whole. It utilizes both cognitive and emotion-focused interventions rather than focusing on only one or the other. It also incorporates principles found in somatic focus approaches and weaves them into a more comprehensive structural approach.

MULTI-SYSTEMIC

ASR is multi-systemic in that it engages a client’s internal system, relational system, and the internal system of others. This means ASR is inherently both intrapsychic and inter-relational whether there is one person or 5 people in the therapy room. How is that possible, you ask?! That is the magic of ASR. No other therapy I know of is structured to do this.

RESEARCH-BASED

ASR pulls from significant multi-disciplinary research including interpersonal neurobiology, cognitive science, behavioral sciences, attachment science, ecology, sociology, and neuroscience.

ATTUNEMENT

One of the things that really sets ASR apart is attunement. More than empathy, attunement allows the therapist to co-experience clients’ distress which greatly assists in assessment, accelerating the therapeutic alliance, expanding client’s window of tolerance, and affecting change at the deepest and most fundamental levels.

THE 5 MOVES

ASR works within five domains of therapy, allowing the therapist a more flexible, intuitive approach rather than a regimented protocol.

  • Move 1- Attuning and Assessing

  • Move 2- Repairing False Narratives

  • Move 3- Repairing Internal Relationships

  • Move 4- Securing Systemic Attachments

  • Move 5- Consolidating and Integrating Change
